Grade 10 Computer Applications Technology focuses on building learners’ foundational digital literacy and technical understanding across three essential topics: network technologies, system technologies, and information management. These topics are directly aligned with the CAPS curriculum, ensuring relevance to the South African school system and promoting academic progression within the CAT subject. Learners will explore core concepts such as network types, basic hardware and software systems, and effective methods for managing and presenting digital information.
The module is designed using the backward design model, which ensures a learner-centered approach through structured phases: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Each topic contains clearly defined learning outcomes, structured content, and assessments that support scaffolded learning. Lessons are delivered through a combination of notes, multimedia resources, interactive H5P activities, and real-world tasks to promote understanding and engagement.
Learners will complete two online assessments per topic, each with clear instructions and a marking memorandum to support learning and self-evaluation. These include multiple-choice quizzes, diagram activities, and applied digital tasks. Assessments are aligned with CAPS outcomes and are designed to encourage reflection.
As your teacher, I hope this digital module offers you a meaningful journey into the world of technology. Approach each topic with commitment, and don’t be afraid to explore and ask questions. I wish you all the best as you work through this exciting content — may it challenge you, inspire you, and help shape your digital future.
Warm regards,
Miss J. Mokwena
